Changes like a chameleon: the IVY cabinet by Studio Besau-Marguerre offers mobile storage and brings a splash of colour and joy to offices. But it also works well in all sorts of other spaces and can be used in myriad different ways: as a side table in living spaces, a night table in bedrooms, a minibar in kitchens, a shelf for bathroom products…
“IVY is clearly reduced in terms of form, with a clear focus on colour,” say the designer duo Marcel Besau and Eva Marguerre. It can be ordered in unicolour or two different shades, and in a combination of high-gloss and matt – in an array of Schönbuch colours. IVY is available in two widths, two heights and five versions with different combinations of open fronts, drawers and a door. All versions have a recessed top for easy access to utensils or as a place to showcase favourite pieces. The low, wide version offers space for a cushion, so it can also be used as a seat. IVY normally stands in its usual place. Those who prefer to keep things moving, hidden casters are available as an option. All variants can be fitted with additional loose shelves.
Besau and Marguerre explain how their idea for this product came about: “With chameleons, the ability to change colour is not so much for camouflage but primarily a way of communication with other chameleons.” It’s the same with IVY: depending on the colour, it can either blend in with the existing interior or stand out as an expressive statement piece, in (home) offices for example. It’s a smart co-worker either way.
