Inspired by architecture: Designer Jonathan Radetz hit on the idea for the YOSHI shoe tray when he was looking at houses with sheet metal cladding. “I wanted the shoe tray to be functional as well as decorative, like the facades,” he explains. “The corrugated insert adds an exciting texture to a classic product for the home.” But it’s also practical, as it makes it easier for shoes to dry off.
YOSHI consists of a sheet steel tray with a finely textured, black, powder coating, and a steel insert with the same finish. The insert can either match the black tray or create an elegant contrast, in powder-coated rosewood.
The tray and insert are rust-proof and can be cleaned separately. A rubber strip between them prevents scratching. YOSHI comes in two sizes: 50 or 75 centimetres across, for two or three pairs of shoes respectively.
Aesthetics and function – united from the ground up.
