Schönbuch Designer Verner Panton

Verner Panton

Timeless furniture classics - Verner Panton created many of them. One such classic, the PANTON COATSTAND, has now been introduced by Schönbuch as a re-edition. The varied, extensive creative work of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton is acknowledged as a major contribution to international design progress in the second half of the 20th century. In 1965 Thonet introduced Panton's S-Chair, the first cantilevered design using shaped, laminated wood. His work has always been notable for clarity of form, bold colours and innovative materials. Panton's designs included furniture, lamps, textiles, art objects and interior furnishing. In 1998 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Danebrog Order from the Queen of Denmark for his life's work.
