Timeless, sleek, emotive design – that’s the philosophy of Lena Billmeier and David Baur, who established their own product design studio in 2012, in Mannheim. Their aim is to create simple yet lasting products that arouse emotion and embody a strong and unmistakable brand image.
An important part of their design process consists of practical work with prototypes and models. “We like to work hands-on and experiment with materials and colours,” the pair agree. “Our design style is pared back to the essentials. What we aim for is not functional or formal overload but clear, intuitive forms that have a touching simplicity and allow the product to tell its own story.”
Their works are a testimony to their quality and expressiveness. The same is true of LINNEA, a minimalist coat stand designed for Schönbuch by Studio Yuno that plays with optical illusion.
