PLAID – Shelving system with a concept

“Shelves are more than just storage – they’re a showcase for the objects, books and favourite pieces we love.” Sebastian Herkner

A shelving system with a concept. With this idea in mind, Schönbuch CEO Michael Ress commissioned designer Sebastian Herkner to create something very special: a modular shelving system that melds function and aesthetics to perfection. The result? PLAID. Inspired by the tartans of Scottish kilts, PLAID translates their structured pattern into a shelving system that is precise and flexible in equal measure: vertical and horizontal units in two different wood thicknesses can be freely combined, with near-invisible joins. The result is a flowing and harmonious overall look.

Stylish modularity

  • Maximum flexibility: Four widths and five heights for customised solutions.
  • Colour with a concept: Available in 29 shades from the Schönbuch range for creative configurations with up to four colours per unit: one for the slim side walls, thick shelves, verticals and plinth, an optional accent colour for slim verticals and shelves, a third colour – or mirroring – for the rear wall, if desired, and a fourth for the doors.
  • Unified throughout: Individual units are striking, but in combination they merge seamlessly thanks to the clever design of the end walls and plinth.

“A combination of two or three colours really highlights the systematic nature of PLAID’s design.” Sebastian Herkner
